Frequently Asked Questions

What is UV DTF printing used for?

UV DTF printing is used to create durable, full-color transfers for hard and rigid surfaces such as tumblers, phone cases, glass, ceramics, wood, metal, and acrylic. Unlike traditional DTF, it does not require a heat press, making it safe for heat-sensitive and curved substrates.

What printers and printheads are your UV DTF materials compatible with?

Our UV DTF ink and film are formulated for Epson XP600, i3200, i1600, TX800, and DX5/DX7 printheads, and work with all standard UV DTF printers.

Do I need a heat press to use UV DTF film and ink?

No. UV DTF transfers are applied using cold lamination and hand pressure or a roller, with no heat press required. The 3D TPU heat transfer film is the exception and does require heat pressing at 140-160°C, since it's designed for fabric and apparel rather than hard surfaces.

What is the difference between the A film and B film in a UV DTF transfer?

Film A is the printing carrier with an ink-receptive coating that receives the UV-cured ink. Film B is the adhesive carrier layer that is cold-laminated onto the printed Film A to create the finished, transfer-ready decal.

How durable are UV DTF transfers?

UV DTF transfers on hard goods are rated for approximately 2 to 5 years of indoor or outdoor use, and are waterproof, scratch-resistant, and UV-fade resistant.

Do you offer wholesale or bulk pricing on UV printing materials?

Yes. UV DTF film and ink are available in bulk configurations, and we offer wholesale pricing for production shops and distributor accounts running consistent volume.

How fast does SHL Supply ship UV DTF materials?

Orders ship within 48 hours from our warehouse in Santa Fe Springs, California, with local pickup available. Every order is backed by a money-back guarantee.
